Our grooming area.

Our facility is clean and ready for your dog. Here are the Canine Comforts Professional Grooming Procedures and Standards:

Brush-out: a full coat brush-out to remove shedding secondary hair and find and remove any tangles and mats. During the brush-out the dog is examined for potential problem areas, like hot spots or fleas.

Bath: a complete bath using a combination of world class shampoos and conditioners. The exact products used depend on the coat type, skin condition and desired final styling cut.

Drying: this could be fluff drying, toweling, HV warm air or any combination depending on the dog’s tolerance and the final desired cut. Canine Comforts never uses a drying box. The client dog is always hand dried and never left alone.

Styling Cut: as specified by owner, condition of the dog and the breed. A consensus on styling cut is reached when the dog is brought in for grooming.

Feet, Pads and Nails: hair is clipped even and between toe pads. Nails are shaped and trimmed with a nail grinder, or lightly clipped if the dog does not allow the grinder. Some dogs don’t like any nail trim at all and show signs of panic. In this case the owner is informed and referred to a veterinarian. We will never force or stress a dog just to “get it done”.

Details: ears are cleaned and trimmed as necessary, and lightly plucked if absolutely necessary. Dogs with deep heavy buildup are referred to a veterinarian for examination. Anal glands are never done. To avoid injury or infection anal gland expression is considered a veterinary procedure

Rest: if necessary your dog is given breaks for play or rest during the course of the groom. They can be walked on a leash or allowed relief in the secure rest area.

Pricing: estimates for grooming can be given over the phone while booking appointments. Exact cost for grooming will depend on size, cut and condition of the dog, and will be exactly determined upon meeting your dog. We are relatively low overhead and so price very competitively. Cash or check is appreciated at time of service. Cost savings include no card readers.

Please: let us know if your dog has any health issues which may affect his comfort while at the grooming studio, and of course to continue and complement our high standards your pet needs to be up-to-date with all vaccinations and parasite preventatives. Your pet will always have access to fresh clean drinking water. Treats and kibble can be provided if you approve.
